InFamous
This game knows how to start with a bang, literally. A blast. You wake up in a blast site, and the only thing alive in sight, is you. Such is the beginning of Sucker Punch’s well made “shooter”, about what might happen if someone like Tony Hawk or Travis Pastrana were to gain super powers, minus the gimmicky skateboarding mechanic.
gameplay:
This game has SO much in it, that it is sort of hard to talk about one thing without feeling that you have missed out on another, but i will try and do my best to fill you in on whats what.
in Infamous, you play as Cole McGrath, a parkour trained courier. but when you take a strange package and are told to open it, you wake up in the site of an explosion, as previously noted. but what i left out is that this blast, that tears apart a city larger than new york, gives more than in takes. it gives you, the player, control over electricity, leting you fire bolts from your hand, send huge shockwaves with the press of a button, and lets you fire static missiles. this is one of the most original ideas i have seen in a long time, and is a great fun to play with, for 5 hours, or 5 minutes.
InFamous is a very pretty game, both in looks, and otherwise. as you walk the streets, the people around you almost feel like each one of these people is real, and that they have a life and a purpose, and react to you like a real person would in that situation. if you choose the life of a hero, you are praised, and more than a few people still use cameras there, leading to more than one occasion when you simply stand and bask in the glory. if you choose the evil path, however, than you will see a VERY different city. The people that WOULD have been throwing you a party now run from you on the street, throwing rocks for your head and hitting, and altogether being very, VERY afraid.
blood and gore:
almost nonexistent, the worst there is is a little few vain thingys on the edge of the screen when hurt and a little paint effect when you are shot. this is no saving private ryan.
adult themes:
now, this is were the line gets a little blurry.while fighting a certain boss, there are vague remarks of how her and cole went to maine and “stayed in bed the whole time”. she also has no pants on, but a shiny coating of which reminds me of dairy queen, and a jacket that shows the side of her womanly parts, though only slightly.
language:
this part is pretty bad. there is an overabundance of cussing, and it happens more than often that you will be siting there wondering why it didn’t get an M rating just for the script.
IguanaMike over all score: 9.5/10
age appropriate-ness: 8.25/10
